MI vs SRH: That time of the year, when every IPL fan would talk about the equations and speculate big time about the last two spots left. Delhi Capitals have made it for the first time in 6 years, and Chennai is also through to the playoffs as usual.
Two slots left, with literally five teams fighting for it (at least on the table). Mumbai and Sunrisers look to seal their spot tomorrow. If Mumbai win- they are through. And if Sunrisers win-they are pretty much through, thanks to their very positive run-rate which is the best in the league currently.
All the remaining contenders such as Kolkata Knightriders, Kings Xi Punjab and Rajasthan Royals hope Mumbai Indians and RC Bangalore defeat Sunrisers in their next two games so that the fourth spot is still open.
THE TEAMS SO FAR…
Coming to the teams, Mumbai look rock solid. Rohit is pretty much back to form and also have three brilliant all-rounders in Hardik-Pollard-Krunal. Jasprit Bumrah, their highest wicket-taker managed to pick 13 wickets from 12 games at a very healthy economy of 6.61. We all know what this lad is capable of. Can better his wicket tally for sure.Sunrisers, on the other hand, are forced handicapped. Johhny Bairstow who scored 445 runs in 10 games bid goodbye to the team to prepare for the crucial WC and recently David Warner did too for the same reason. David is the orange cap holder with 692 runs at an unreal average of 70. Of the 12 games, he has played, scored 8 fifties and 1 century. Legendary, to say the least. Hyderabad would feel that void, especially since all the games they have won the top order bailed them out and the middle order has been pretty ordinary.
Martin Guptill comes in as a replacement to David Warner, and we all know what Guptil is capable of. Tons of experience and brilliant as a batsman/fielder, but has to get used to the flow in no time. One win, Sunrisers look through with their net very positive run rate and they would definitely not want to leave things to the last day when the face Bangalore in Bangalore.
RCB is tough to play in Bangalore, further, the weather conditions aren’t encouraging there too. Also, the pressure is not a great thing to play with.
Exciting four days of cricket ahead. Bring it on!
