Chennai were outclassed yet again by Mumbai Indians in the 1st qualifier. The turf was a rank turner & at their home venue, but CSK finished second best. Rahul Chahar has been mighty impressive with his wrist spinners & on the night of the qualifier 1, the crafty leggie was able to conjure his magic on the batters. He finished with figures of 4-0-14-2. Krunal Pandya conceded only 21 in his full quota of overs as CSK were restricted to a paltry 131. Surya Kumar Yadav’s unbeaten 71 & a timely 28 from Ishan Kishan saw the Mumbai Indians through to yet another IPL finals. Their 5th.

At Visakhapatnam, SRH had a decent record. The batsmen had to put up a decent score which they did. But, the bowling talent, which they rely on abundantly didn’t seem to work. Yes, Rashid Khan rose to the occasion once again, but it certainly wasn’t enough. Prithvi Shaw’s classy 56 off 38 got Delhi off to a flier. But when the batsmen started to depart, Rishab Pant accepted the batting onus & stamped his authority on the game. His 49 off 21 got them closer & Keemo Paul smashed the winning runs.

Appallingly, a win in this game will take Delhi to their first ever IPL finals. CSK, have been there done that numerous times. It’s the battle between the youngsters & the experienced campaigners.

Variation in pace & certainly the slower bouncer seems to work on this wicket. Trent Boult has been disappointing this year but can he come good when his team needs him the most?
